How it all began...
J. Hester's Highland House Studios & Gallery opened in the fall of 2001. After a year of renovation, this once dilapidated house was transformed into a charming studios and gallery nestled in the Texas Hill Country. Designed by Jay himself, Highland House was built around the existing home, carefully preserving as much of its charmng character as possible.
What you will see...
Jay's vision for Highland House was to create a place where talented Hill Country artists could show their work. Including works created by Jay hmself, you will also enjoy paintings and sculpture in the gallery by local artists, Virgil Graves, Sidney Sinclair and Bill Scheidt, who are also on the teaching staff for the studio, offering classes year round and workshops in the summer.
Events to enjoy...
The Highland House hosts many art events throughout the year, to include:
The Spring Parade of Artists: Held in April and provides a guided tour of
Boerne's area studios and galleries.
Fall Colorfest Art Show:...
The Texas Hill Country Invitational: Held in October at the world-renowned
Tapatio Springs resort, this event benefits the Cibolo Arts Council, a
non-profit organization, whose goal is to promote the arts in the local area.
